You ever hear a song and think, “that’s a random word, wonder how many songs use that?” Like “supermarket” I can really only think of a Clash song… I’m sure there are others but that comes to mind first and really nothing else.
Well the same can really be said for names. Jamie, Michelle, Roxanne, Jimmy… etc. I’m pretty sure there’s only one song that uses the name Maurice, that being “The Joker” by The Steve Miller Band. On the same note: the name Noel, excluding the Christmas song, probably the only other song that uses that name is “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheatus.
Now that I’ve put that out there, let me shamefully add another event to the “Kim says/does the most absurd/wrong things sometimes” list. While celebrating my best friend Lu’s birthday a sing along errupts to a one hit wonder of the 90s most of us are familiar with, cue the afforementioned “Teenage Dirtbag”. I famously shout of out instead “her name was Noel” … “his name is Maurice”.
HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? How do you exchange one uncommonly used name for another? It’s almost near science that it shouldn’t happen, but by the graces of funneling beers I made it happen.
